My goal is to reinterpret the popular and cultural references that accumulate and overlay in my head and to react to the constant stimuli of the current digital era in order to build a new vision, a new point of view, a new concept of beauty. My work is both a way of making art that escapes labels and a form of creative recycling that goes beyond the old dichotomy that has always opposed high culture to low culture.
Models are inserted within floral universes where at being re-interpretated is not only the surface of their bodies but the entire space of the sheet, as if they were blank canvases or sheets to be filled.
An invasion of flowers that envelops the bodies of the models, also invading the background and which gives life to a completely different, new, surreal and pop scenario.
The intent is, through the superimposition of my illustrations, to create a suspended atmosphere, at times alienating that leads to an unusual and mysterious realism, characterized by the coexistence of two worlds at the opposite ends.
Realism and fantasy.
Reality is in fact the starting point of a transfiguration that passes through imagination and wonder.
As if it were a contradiction in itself.
Reality is in fact the starting point of a transfiguration that passes through imagination and wonder.
As if it were a contradiction in itself.
A contradiction that is also reflected in the choice of the basis on which I realize my interventions: the magazines.
Through the use of superimposed hand drawn illustrations on the covers of magazine and fashion editorials for mass distribution, I personalize and transform them into unique pieces introducing the concept of a series of one-of-a-kind pieces.
Overwriting my aesthetic vision on a pre-made destined for a completely different use, I re-defines not only the purpose of use of the magazines but also their life cycle, estranging them from the dynamics and the times of the "new releases.
Particularly at a time of uber-fast and superficial consumption, through my work I try to re-think and exacerbate the visual suggestions evoked by the photographic print images to give them a new meaning.
Through this form of creative recycling, I build a new vision and mood while stratifying new signs on top of old ones. I create something new that wasn’t there before, adding her own key to the pre-existing layouts.
Stratification and layering are keywords of my work.
